The Food Chain on bbc world service

I’m delighted to share that I recently took part in an interview for the BBC World Service programme The Food Chain.

Presenter Ruth Alexander explores what holds people back from cooking and how to overcome it. Drawing on her own experience of learning later in life, she asks: can anyone become a confident cook?

I was interviewed alongside Tokunbo Koiki, founder of Tokunbo’s Kitchen Catering Company and London African Food Week, who joined us from Lagos to share her approach to making cooking accessible and enjoyable.

We were also joined by Pak Wai Hung, owner of 288 Bar and Wok restaurant in Cheltenham, who spoke about how building confidence can be just as important as learning techniques. Together, we discussed simple, realistic ways to get started — from overcoming fear of failure to developing basic skills and routines.

It was a real pleasure to be part of such a thoughtful conversation about food, culture, and the connections that shape what ends up on our plates.
