In Dec 2011, The National Lottery, via the Chances4Change portfolio contacted us to commend us on the success of the work we delivered from April 2008 – 2011. This work was part funded by the Well-Being fund and was delivered across Sussex and Surrey. We trained over 400 cookery leaders, who went on to work with over 12 000 people. We directly ran more than 350 cookery and wellbeing sessions, working in an on-going capacity with over 1000 people, including carers, mental health service users, students from pupil referral units and BME groups. We helped set up 3 new social enterprises, 4 community café’s and helped 4 full time trainees find full time employment or set up their own business.
On the back of this, the Lottery offered us a year’s further funding to sustain the impact of this success. We are delighted with this and are pleased to be in a position to offer subsidized training places for new cookery leaders, professional development workshops, support and advice for existing cookery leaders and the opportunity to develop and run a programme of Community Bread Clubs across East Sussex
